Goodbye Tina!!

 

The legendary singer Tina Turner died at her home in Switzerland on 24 May. She said how she hoped the world would remember her :

'As the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll. As a woman who showed other women that it is OK to strive for success on their own terms.'

Remembrance Day is on November 11th . This is a very special day because it marks the end of World War One in 1918 . The war officially ended at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month – that means 11:00 a.m. on November 11th.  Every year British people come together to remember those who died in wars across the world. People wear red poppies on their clothes.The red poppy became a symbol of Remembrance Day because they grew on the battlefields.

                                                                       5 th November : Bonfire Night , a.k.a. Guy Fawkes Day. It is celebrated in the UK, and in other countries that were formerly part of the British empire, with f ireworks , parades and bonfires with ragdolls which are burnt on the fire. But, who was Guy Fawkes ?  Guy Fawkes was the man that tried and failed to kill the king  James Iand blow up the Houses of Parliament in the 16th century.
