27 January
Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January is a national commemoration day in the UK dedicated to the remembrance of those who suffered in The Holocaust under Nazi persecution.
This year world leaders and many Holocaust survivors have come together at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp in Poland to mark the 80th anniversary of its liberation by Soviet soldiers at the end of World War II.
Auschwitz was the largest of the extermination camps and has become a symbol of Nazi Germany's genocide of six million European Jews, along with more than 100,000 non-Jews.
