GROUNDHOG DAY

 

Groundhog Day is a fun tradition celebrated in the United States and Canada every year on February 2nd. It's linked to predicting the weather!:

A groundhog comes out of its burrow (a hole in the ground where it lives). People watch to see if the groundhog sees its shadow or not.

What does it mean?

I f the groundhog sees its shadow, it gets scared and goes back into its burrow. This means there will be six more weeks of winter.

If the groundhog doesn’t see its shadow , spring will come early.

Remembrance Day is on November 11th . This is a very special day because it marks the end of World War One in 1918 . The war officially ended at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month – that means 11:00 a.m. on November 11th.  Every year British people come together to remember those who died in wars across the world. People wear red poppies on their clothes.The red poppy became a symbol of Remembrance Day because they grew on the battlefields.
