Groundhog Day 2026: More Winter or Early Spring?

Every year on February 2, a famous groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil emerges from his burrow in Pennsylvania to predict the weather. According to the legend, if it is a sunny morning and Phil sees his shadow, he gets scared and runs back inside, which means there will be six more weeks of winter. If it is a cloudy morning and he does not see his shadow, it means an early spring is coming. This year, on February 2, 2026, Phil came out in the freezing cold and saw his shadow, predicting that winter will stay with us a little longer

                                       



             Oh no!    Six more weeks of winter are ahead.

Remembrance Day is on November 11th . This is a very special day because it marks the end of World War One in 1918 . The war officially ended at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month – that means 11:00 a.m. on November 11th.  Every year British people come together to remember those who died in wars across the world. People wear red poppies on their clothes.The red poppy became a symbol of Remembrance Day because they grew on the battlefields.

                                                                       5 th November : Bonfire Night , a.k.a. Guy Fawkes Day. It is celebrated in the UK, and in other countries that were formerly part of the British empire, with f ireworks , parades and bonfires with ragdolls which are burnt on the fire. But, who was Guy Fawkes ?  Guy Fawkes was the man that tried and failed to kill the king  James Iand blow up the Houses of Parliament in the 16th century. Many years later, a comic and a movie called V for Vendetta used the image of Guy Fawkes.  The mask is also connected with the online hacktivist movement Anonymous, famous for i ts anti-establishment protests.                                   Watch th...
